Special Needs Housing

Community HousingWorks owns a number of rental housing complexes dedicated to individuals with special needs.  Many of our developments also have apartments set aside for farmworkers, the disabled or domestic abuse survivors.

Homeless Housing
The CENTRO program, located in Vista, provides transitional housing for twenty homeless families.  CENTRO assists families to achieve self-sufficiency and to secure permanent housing upon graduation.  The program provides families with a maximum of 24 months of rental assistance and the opportunity to further their education, complete on-the-job training or a combination of both.  Learn more

HIV/AIDS Housing
Our HIV/AIDS Housing is located in Oceanside and provides permanent housing for individuals and families that are disabled due to HIV/AIDS.  10 of the 22 apartments are restricted to individuals who are homeless at entrance into the program.  This is the only rental complex in North County that has apartments dedicated to independently living homeless individuals with HIV/AIDS.

Housing for Substance Abuse Recovery
Located in Escondido, this program offers homeless and disabled parents who are exiting the Drug Dependency Court’s SARMS (Substance Abuse Recovery Management Systems) program to reunite with their children. Offering up to 14 apartments, this independent living arrangement requires families to demonstrate a capacity to live in an unsupervised, sober living environment.  Upon program completion, families transition on to more permanent housing through the assistance of the Program Manager.
